Mirko Cro Cop Suddenly Retires…Is It Because of Reebok Deal?

The Reebok deal has been an absolute goldmine for comedy since the very beginning. From the laughable rollout to the various spelling errors in the store database at launch to the fact that somebody thought it would be a good idea to release a T-shirt promoting sectarian violence to nip slips, everything Reebok has done has been downright amateurish. The UFC has only made matters worse, with Dana White going completely insane over the last month and firing surprisingly popular cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran.

THEY DIDN'T EVEN USE SPELL CHECK FOR THEIR PRESENTATION!

Cro Cop signed his current UFC deal back in February, before the Reebok deal went into effect, and was supposedly set to sign with Bellator before that. Under the UFC’s payout system, the MMA legend would be making a measly $10,000 in sponsorships per fight. That’s pretty terrible for a guy that is still so popular that he was plugged into a main event spot after three and a half years fighting outside the USA.

A billion dollar company is selling these shirts. Think about that. Look at it.

While it may be over, it definitely feels like there is more to this story. Don’t be surprised if old man Filipovic, never somebody to shy away from either a verbal or physical fight, starts going in on both the UFC and Reebok over the coming weeks and months.
