10 MMA stars who ruined their careers with drugs and alcohol

2. Joe Stevenson
It almost seemed inevitable that Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson had problems with alcoholic beverages since his father and grandfather were alcoholics, and it did not take him long to join them when he started drinking at age 15. Stevenson was better than many at hiding his addiction and was able to lead a relatively successful career in MMA, achieving a record of 23-6 before being selected to be part of the second season of the TUF.
However, the reality is that he was drunk almost daily and struggled with depression, and even after winning the TUF, Stevenson declared that he did not care, and the next day he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Even so, Stevenson continued and came to face BJ Penn for the lightweight title, but eventually the UFC let him go in 2011 after being defeated in 4 games, and lost another couple of fights on the regional circuit.
Stevenson managed to be sober, and after several years he received the opportunity to participate in The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption of 2017, but his best moment is over and two defeats put an end to his dream of returning to the UFC.
