Shane returning was a major surprise and it was genuinely surprising how big of a pop he got from the fans in Detroit. The angle is an interesting one for obvious reasons, and could be the end of the long-standing Authority group of Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and some combination of Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Kane.

It could also mean that the WWE is headed towards a new brand split era. For a long time, RAW and SmackDown featured separate rosters, separate titles and separate shows. The WWE has an incredibly talented roster at this time, but they haven’t been able to make use of all of them and that may be fixed with a brand split.
All that said, this probably won’t be started by jobbing out the Undertaker to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. Taker is too big a name and Shane is too much of a smallfry in kayfabe to lose at a show that has been so important to building him.
We’ll probably see Shane take control over RAW. It just won’t come immediately after ‘Mania.
