If a fighter can’t be instantly tracked down by the promotion, they receive a disgruntled phone call from Novitzky. If it happens again, Novitzky FLIES OUT TO THEM and will, his words not mine, “trail” them for a few days! On the third offense, they start facing fines and sanctions.

Novitzky, a former federal agent, has a bad rep even among his fellow investigators. His obsession with taking down Barry Bonds during the Balco scandal reached a point where he was criticized by a federal judge for his over-aggressive approach. During his investigation, he infamously spent time at Bonds’ gym during the day, and rummaged through Balco’s garbage at night.
