UFC Averts Free Agent Crisis By Re-Signing Two Big Names

Alistair Overeem is going to main event the UFC’s debut in his home country, the Netherlands, in May. It’s unknown who he will face, but there aren’t too many options available. One has to imagine that the UFC plans to remake Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez and that could mean Overeem vs. Stipe Miocic. If, however, Miocic gets the title shot, we’ll likely see him rematch Travis Browne, or face fellow former Pride fighter, Josh Barnett (which, I know, isn’t a great fight, but there are very few options available).

As for Sterling? He doesn’t know when he’ll return to the cage, but he name-dropped Bryan Caraway and Urijah Faber as potential opponents. Caraway is much more likely, though, since Faber is likely to face Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title.

Hopefully they both get big, profitable fights.
