Nick Diaz Almost Free! NSAC Reduces Suspension and Fine

MMA

As stated, Diaz’s original punishment for his third drug test failure stemming from his chronic marijuana use was a five year suspension, alongside $165,000 fine. Both of those have now been reduced. Diaz’s suspension has been dropped down to 18 months, while his fine is now $100,000.

While many were still frustrated that Diaz is required to face any kind of punishment, and some argued that he should have taken this all the way to court in an effort to change the entire NSAC system, this is still a huge moment for MMA. The NSAC has long been able to do whatever they want, and Diaz managed to be the first to actually beat them at their own game.

Officially, Diaz’s suspension will end on August 1, 2016. He will have the opportunity to fight on that date, but it is unclear when or if he might actually want to return to the cage.

If he does, though, who could he face? Find out on the next page.
