Marcus spent 6 years in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until his football career came to an end. Following in the footsteps of the next guy on this list, Marcus Jones tried his hand at MMA. He appeared on TUF in 2009 and actually made it through to the semifinals before losing and deciding it’s time to hang up the gloves. You can say what you want about his short-lived MMA career, but any athlete that’s able to compete in the top organizations in more than one sport is a true beast.

His MMA career has been… interesting, to say the least. This former NFLer went on to become a professional punching bag, and basically a cartoon character over in Japan where he’s paid huge amounts of money to get beaten up. Sapp has only one 1 of his last 16 fights, and he’s on a 12 fight losing streak. In 2014, Sapp announced his retirement and said that he had finally been able to pay off his big medical bills and was walking away from the sport with 10 million dollars in the bank, which is a lot more than most fighters with much better records will ever be able to say.

Another talented multi-sport athlete who found his way over to the The Ultimate Fighter after flirting with the National Football League. On the Heavyweights season of TUF, Shivers suffered a loss and hasn’t stepped inside the cage since then.

Tony Halme

Before Tony Halme tragically ended his own life, he went from pro wrestling to a UFC-debut fight against Randy Couture. That’s a tough matchup for anyone, especially for someone with only three fights under their belt and a record of 0-3. That marked Halme’s final attempt at mixed martial arts.
