On the most recent episode of his podcast “You’re Welcome!”, Chael Sonnen gives his thoughts on the police crime scene video that surfaced earlier this week. Here’s what Chael had to say (Emphasis added):
“I don’t know what Jon Jones’ defence is going to be. I don’t know that he’s going to have a defence. He’s been radio silent, as he should be, until he gets sworn in and he goes into court. But there is a belief* that he could come out and say that one of the reasons he ran from the scene is because he’s black and that right now, particularly in the media, there is a major phenonemom going around that cops are out shooting black people, and he could say that he’s going to run because of that.”
* “There is a belief” = Chael’s ass-covering way of saying “I believe…”
“They (the police officers at the scene) put together that this is the fighter Jon Jones. At the end of the video the cop says to the other cop, “I wouldn’t want to get in a fight with him … I would just taze him. I would just shoot him with my tazer gun.”
“If you circle that back around and Jon Jones is going to have a defense that he fled the scene because he knew the police were coming and he was worried that they might shoot him or harm him, you then have this video of the cop coming forward and saying “Yeah, I would have shot him with my tazer gun.” If you’re going to elect that defence, and I don’t know that he is, but if you’re going to elect that difference and you then have that video to parlay into it where the cop straight up says “I would have shot him with my tazer gun.” Starts to make that argument a little more effective, doesn’t it?”
“That video could come into play. It will come into play if that’s the defence that he takes.”
Jones should listen up because if there’s one thing Chael Sonnen IS a world champion at, it’s spinning lies to get out of sticky situations.
