It’s currently unknown how many people will compete in the tournament for the championship, or when it will start. That said, a substantial portion of the WWE’s top stars are currently indisposed.
Randy Orton is out for a few months due to a serious shoulder injury. Sting is likely still recovering from the injury he sustained at Night of Champions. The Undertaker, as stated, is locked in a rivalry with Bray Wyatt that will likely function as the night’s Survivor Series match. Both Brock Lesnar and John Cena are currently on the shelf (Lesnar is on vacation and Cena is filming a reality series with Fox), but could possibly be called back to participate in the tournament.
As for who will be in the tournament, the only certainty is Roman Reigns. Reigns was scheduled to face Rollins at Survivor Series in a match for the WWE WHC, and the WWE has been actively looking to make him the face of the company for a long while. This provides them an excellent opportunity to crown him.
Other possibilities include fan favorite Dean Ambrose, Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens, United States champion Alberto Del Rio, Money in the Bank winner Sheamus and former midcard champions like Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler and Wade Barrett.
It’s definitely worth watching RAW on Monday to see how this pans out.
