Vince McMahon Wanted a Real Fight with Dana White at WrestleMania

MMA

The story starts in 2010, in the immediate aftermath of Lesnar’s loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121. With Lesnar’s days as UFC champion over, but his value as a sports entertainer higher than ever before, Vince wanted Brock back in the WWE fold. Making matters more complicated was that 2011’s WrestleMania 27 was, at that point, completely devoid of interesting matches.

According to Meltzer:

Brock Lesnar told Vince that he was ready to go for WM27 in a match against The Undertaker, but Lesnar never told Dana, so Vince called up Dana to negotiate the deal, and Dana had no idea what he was talking about, near the end of the call the Lesnar/Undertaker match had fallen through, so Vince suggested to Dana, to have a match between them (Dana & Vince) at Mania, however Dana said I can’t do the match, then Vince said we could do it for real if you want, Dana also turned that idea down too.

The results, of course, weren’t great for any involved party. Find out what happened after on the next page.
