“I can’t really explain how I manage to fight like I do, other than the fact that I am dedicated to the gym and train hard. It took a lot of patience, a lot of frustration, but now when I fight the visual impairment doesn’t restrain me. My hands are my eyes.”

“When I get into close combat, that’s when I really come alive. It makes the game a lot easier. Before the fight starts I can only see the outline and the rim of the cage. But at some point you have to come together, and once you’re close that’s it. You don’t need to have sight when you’ve got hold of someone it’s skill and technique that takes over from there.”

“When I look at myself now compared to who I was when I first came in, I’m completely unrecognisable. MMA is my release; it has let me become the person I feel I was supposed to be.”

Away from MMA I’m working towards getting my personal training qualifications, The sports given me so much, so it would be great to give something back. If anything I just hope I can inspire other people with challenges to work through their fears, the only way to do is to go up there and get in with it.”
