Julianna Pena Continues War on “Broken” Ronda Rousey and “Ducking” Champ Amanda Nunes

MMA

For anyone that’s keeping track, Julianna Pena still wants a title shot, and she’s still calling people names in an effort to get it. In a long winded post on Instagram, Pena tore into both the reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes, as well as the long-reigning former champion, Ronda Rousey. Here’s what she had to say:

#TBT Amanda is ducking me!! She’s waiting to fight Honda. #FIGHTME! I don’t blame her because she knows Honda is the easiest fight in the division now. She’s broken. She’s the easiest pay day for Amanda. Amanda is sitting on the sideline as the “champ” when all the girls before her didn’t! Holly and Miesha are true fighters. They didn’t wait. They didn’t hide their belts and wait for a pay day. They fought. They acted like the champion should. They looked at the next toughest girl in line and said ‘let’s find out who’s best’ like a #champion should. That’s how Amanda got her shot!…None of that happens if these women stopped and hid their belts and waited for Honda!! Now we have a chance to fight at the first @ufc event EVER at #MSG and you want to sit and wait?! Be a true #champ and get in the cage and prove you’re the champ! If Amanda thinks she can beat me, then what is she waiting for? The fact is she is ducking me. She’s #scared and she should be! I’m the only #undefeated #girl on the #bantamweight roster that has not lost in the #ufc #octagon! 7-0. I’m fighting Amanda next ! Get your popcorn ready and if you don’t believe me ? bet against me and lose the farm then!

Just to be completely, one hundred percent clear, broken Ronda Rousey is not to be confused with #BROKEN Matt Hardy, the best thing in pro wrestling today. Photo via Matt Hardy's Instagram @matthardybrand.

Pena is, to a degree, justified in her complaints. Pena has looked absolutely excellent in the UFC to this point, returning from an ugly injury and posting wins in each of her four UFC fights, including a UFC 200 win over Cat Zingano. When you add to that her run on The Ultimate Fighter season 18, which included her beating women’s MMA pioneer Shayna Baszler, current UFC fighter Sarah Moras and the undefeated (in pro fights, at least) Gina Mazany, she has a 7-0 record in UFC competition.

Pena clearly has the support of the UFC, given how often they fly her around and how frequently Dana gets handsy with her. Photo via Pena's IG @venezuelanvixen.

Unfortunately, she hasn’t handled herself well out of the cage. Pena, despite being amazingly talented, has proven to be just a tad bit unstable. She has admitted to violent incidents in the past where she provokes people at parties (which inevitably leads to a brawl) and was arrested last year for attacking a bouncer at a bar when he refused her entry after hours.

This is the arrest record for Pena's nutshot incident. And yeah, it's pretty stupid.

Granted, nutshotting somebody and starting fights in parties isn’t a big deal for a UFC that has given Anthony “Rumble” Johnson opportunity after opportunity.

Still, she should probably dial back on random assaults and name calling the biggest cash cow in the UFC if she wants to become one of the faces of the company.
