Six Fighters That Should Have A Movie Made About Their Lives

Articles

Hollywood ran out of ideas years ago, so before they resort to Paul Blart 3 or Fast and Furious 8, here are some real-life fighters who’s true story is better than fiction.

1. Lee Murray

Everyone loves a good heist movie. Lee Murray went 8-2-1 in his MMA career, with his final loss coming to Anderson Silva. He managed to go the distance, losing in a decision, which already shows that a tough SOB this guy is. People do crazy things after losing to Anderson. Chael lost touch with reality. Forrest ran out of the arena. Murray decided to pull off the biggest bank heist ever, taking a cool 80 million dollars. It didn’t start there, he had lived a life of crime, selling drugs to pay for steroids and a laundry list of evil-doings. His favorite part of selling drugs was the violence, and his life story would make an epic crime drama.

He’s fought in the UFC, and makes a compelling argument that fighters should be paid more… so they don’t have to rob banks.

“He is a scary son-of-a-bitch. And I don’t mean fighter-wise.” – Dana White

2. Rich Franklin

Warrior was a great MMA movie that could have been loosely based on the life of Rich Franklin, who was a pioneer of taking mixed martial arts into the mainstream. He was a teacher, which worked like a bridge into helping people accept MMA after the early  years when everyone thought it was literally a fight to the death. From teaching kids, to UFC Middleweight Champion, to being in 4 movies with a 5th in production, Franklin’s had a crazy story that would undoubtedly make a great film. Granted, there was the film American Fighter a few years ago, but we’re talking Michael Bay huge budget shit now.

3. George St. Pierre

A lot of people could relate to GSP’s story of being picked on and bullied as a kid, and going on to become one of the most dangerous men on earth who beats up bullies like Josh Koscheck, Diaz and Hendricks would get people super fired up. He’s basically a real life Jean-Claude Van Damme and GSP’s even gone on to be in movies. Plus GSP is a true martial artist so you’ve got the whole training chapter taken care of with Firas Zahabi Miyagi.

“Once I got over my anger and rage from childhood, once I stopped feeling like a victim, I was able to open myself to great sources of learning.”

4. Fedor

Fedor was just a regular Russian boy growing up in the Soviet Union. His father was a welder, his mom was a teacher, he had a few siblings. He joined the military as a firefighter. Out of all the things you can fight, Fedor choose to fight FIRES, before going from his humble beginnings to become the greatest mixed martial artist to ever walk the earth. Now, Fedor is best friends with Putin and rubbing shoulders with the world’s elite.

Who wouldn’t want to see the story of a regular Russian kid going on  the become one of the country’s best-recognized figures, and taking the world by storm?

5. Nick Diaz

There needs to be an MMA version How High or Cheech and Chong. It could be a classic stoner flick where Nick and Nate wake up one afternoon and realize that they’ve only got 12 hours to make it to Brazil for UFC 200 media week… but it’s April 20th, and  they forgot to renew their passports, and they can’t leave yet because they’ve got a fridge full of edibles to take care of before they spoil. Nate suggests putting the brownies into the freezer. Nick says freezers are a bitch move, homie. Once their MJ superpowers are activated, join the Diaz Brothers in their smoky journey to jump borders, dodge drug-testers, and make it to UFC 200 in time to fulfill their media obligations.

6. War Machine

The guy is an irredeemable piece of shit, let’s get that out of the way, but his story would make a great movie. He was in the military, and his money would get sent to his mom to deposit and look after for him, but it turned out she was spending it all on drugs with her boyfriend and it turns out War Machine had nothing to show for all of his work. While he was dealing with that, the police showed up and started to arrest him because they mistook him for his brother, and War Machine ended up resisting a little too strongly and serving time even though the cops originally had a mistaken identity. Fast forward to starring in adult films, being a professional fighter, and nearly killing Christy Mack. Movies about mentally challenged people always do well at the Oscars.
