But let’s be straight. Kurt Angle is the kind of guy that fits perfectly into Bellator’s plans for the fight game. A legendary professional wrestler with accomplishments including holding (deep breathe), the WWE World Heavyweight championship, WCW championship, United States championship, Intercontinental championship, Hardcore championship, European championship and Tag Team championship is exactly the kind of fighter that Bellator would like to take on for a one-off fight. (Oh, and he was also the TNA World Heavyweight champ six times)
Also, the timing couldn’t be better for either party. Bellator’s ratings have been down in a big way since the Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo Slice event and they desperately need a headlining bout that can get mainstream attention. Kimbo vs. Angle or Shamrock vs. Angle would be able to get that, slam-dunk, no problem.
That said, there’s one big hang-up in all this; Angle may not be healthy enough to get licensed to fight in America.
