While it’s nice to see names like the Iron Sheik and Ken Shamrock, solid talents that often get omitted from WWE history pieces, there are a slew of active names that are loudly absent.
The most egregious example is the Four Horsewomen of NXT. NXT champion Bayley, WWE top contender Charlotte, former NXT champion Sasha Banks and fan favorite Becky Lynch are all left out and, according to a statement by 2K Games, will not be added to the game. Ever. That, quite frankly, is horse poo. Bayley vs. Sasha will be main eventing the next NXT pay-per-view event and are missing, while a currently directionless midcarder in Baron Corbin is present.
The tag division is also missing a few names, including the Dudley Boyz (who may be the Tag Team Champions come Monday) and Los Matadores.
As for “alumni”, it’s hard not to notice CM Punk’s absence. The same goes for his real-life wife, AJ Lee. And, of course…Hulk Hogan isn’t there for…reasons. Not only that, but for a game that will focus in on the Attitude Era, it’s also suffering from a distinct lack of Kurt Angle and Hardy Boyz.
Either way, the game drops October 27 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. There will probably also be a PC release at some point in the future.
