Looks like Askren’s not going to fight the battles he’s looking for right now. You could consider him in his arguments with Dana White for years. In an interview with Yahoo Sports, White said this is not the case. He even likes to be an enterprise worker:

“Askren has been fun. This guy is smartfunny, he likes to mix in everything in a fun and different way. So it has been good. I’m glad you’re here. Time is everything in life and this was the time for Ben Askren this in UFC.

In spite of everything, that was not enough to rule out a rematch with Robbie Lawler.

White confirmed that the UFC would finalize the rematch. Where you have many reasons to do it:

“I’m trying to make a rematch with Lawler,” White said. “First of all, that fight was incredible, fun, it was controversial but it is the fight that has to be made right now . It is terrible when there is that controversy. That’s the fight we want to make. ”

Many fans will agree with Dana in this case. “Funky” has a future ahead, and was ranked sixth in the UFC welterweight ranking.

But he must leave behind the controversy of Lawler’s fight before moving on. White told Yahoo Sports

“I’m trying to make the [Robbie] Lawler rematch,” White said. “First of all, that fight was awesome, it was fun, it was controversial but it’s the fight to make right now. It’s terrible when that [controversy] happens. That’s the fight we want to make.”
