8 Drug Test Failures That the UFC Wants You to Forget About

Lots of UFC fighters have failed drug tests due to steroids, diuretics and crazy testosterone levels. Which ones have been forgotten about?

Antonio Silva

Oh yeah, TRT. Remember that? Well, do you remember how the UFC was the one to turn Antonio Silva on to TRT? Yeah, the Antonio Silva that was popped for steroids in 2008 while fighting for EliteXC who then fought twice in Japan while suspended. Oh, you didn’t? Well guess what!

Cung Le

When Cung Le posted an Instagram photo where he looked like an action figure (see above), many  were quick to say he was on the stuff. When he was flagged for HGH after getting demolished by Michael Bisping in China, those suspicions seemed to be confirmed. Too bad the UFC cheaped out on the drug tests, though. They sent one urine sample (not two, as is the standard for drug testing) to a second-rate Chinese drug testing lab and the sample was immediately destroyed after being tested. That was an embarrassing situation for the UFC, and showed how they generally half-ass their drug testing and willy-nilly destroy fighters’ careers because they try to save a few hundred dollars. Le has since joined the class action lawsuit against the UFC and, frankly, it’s hard to not root for him to get a meaty check.

Vitor Belfort

Vitor Belfort is big in Brazil. Really big. He’s a big-time revenue generator and the UFC absolutely won’t let anything stop that. Not even failed drug tests. It doesn’t matter how bad things get with Belfort, the UFC won’t let that gravy train go off the rails.
