Miss USA Could Probabaly Kick Your Ass

Articles

The 63rd winner of the Miss USA pageant is a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo. It’s only a matter of time until the rumors start going around about her being Ronda Rousey’s next opponent… (You heard it here first.)

Miss Nevada USA Nia Sanchez

Nia Sanchez, from Nevada, took home the crown at the 63rd annual Miss USA contest and she will be going on to represent the USA at Miss Universe later this year. When asked about sexual assaults against women, Nia said that women need to take it upon themselves to learn self-defense. Miss USA took up taekwondo at the age of 8 to build confidence and to be able to defend herself. She hasn’t had an easy path, having spent time in a women’s shelter where some taekwondo can certainly come in handy.

Pop Culture’s Armpit

If you missed Sunday evening’s show, you didn’t get to see Rumor Willis, Demi Moore, Donald Trump, Lance Bass, Nelly and rest of the barely-relevant-celebrity cavalcade as they were paraded out throughout the 3 hour broadcast.

MMA Connections

One of the pagent’s judges was none other than former UFC champion Randy Couture. Also, Nia Sanchez is an MMA fan and has said that she loves going to live events. Look out, Arianny!

Other Notable Taekwondo Practitioners

Say what you what about the effectiveness of taekwondo when stacked up against other disciplines, it’s sure better  than nothing. Here are some other noteworthy practitioners of taekwondo: Joe Rogan, Anderson Silva, Chuck Norris and Bas Rutten. Add Miss USA Nia Sanchez to that list and you’ve got a veritable dream team.

And we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if a post about Miss USA didn’t include some photos…
