The movie Warrior is MMA’s version of Raging Bull. Tom Hardy does a great job of portraying what it’s like for a fighter both inside and outside of the cage.
“Just walking into a fighter in a rush when he’s trying to get somewhere would knock me out, let alone trying to fight anyone. Those guys are seasoned athletes. It’s like walking into a truck.” – Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy started his MMA training weighing around 162, and had to bulk up to about 185-190.
His training started with basic kicks and punches and core fundamentals because he had no experience prior to this. Two hours of boxing a day, two hours of Muay Thai, two hours choreography, and two hours lifting.
“We were eating chicken and broccoli all day, nothing else. No sweets. It was rubbish. It was horrible. Unnecessary. I don’t know why anybody does it for a living.” – Tom Hardy
