Ahead of his bout with Klitschko, Fury sat down for a lengthy interview with iFLTV and talked about a variety of topics. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but there was plenty for people to get mad about therein. When the discussion turned to women in boxing, though, things got particularly…controversial.

How does he feel about women in boxing? He loves seeing them between rounds, holding the round cards over their head. How does he feel about Ronda Rousey? She looked amateurish trying to box a real boxer like Holly Holm. How does he feel about women boxing? Well, he’s not a sexist…but a woman’s place is in the kitchen or on her back.

Wowzerz. That’s a great way to get people mad at you. Needless to say, the mainstream media and internet at large are taking action, taking issue with Fury’s candidacy for the BBC SPOTY Award, an award handed out to the “sportsperson, judged by a public vote, to have achieved the most that year”. Fury has said he isn’t interested in the award saying he isn’t a good role model, but BBC has remained steadfast in his inclusion due to his big win over Wladimir Klitschko.
