There are plenty of times in boxing that we have seen someone cheat there way to a win. Boxing is a sport that is far away from scandal. To see someone try to get an advantage purely by immoral means is disturbing to say the least. Especially in boxing. A sport where you could be hurt, permanently.

When Miguel Cotto faced Antonio Margarito in June of 2008, it was billed as ‘The Battle’. This fight went on to become the battle of the hand wraps.

Miguel Cotto, to this day will say Margarito used illegal hand wraps during their first fight. In 2009, Antonio Margarito faced Shane Mosley. An illegal insert was found in each of Margarito’s knuckle pads before the fight. The inserts were removed and the fight went ahead as planned. Mosley ended the fight with a knockout in the 9th round.

Miguel Cotto on the build up to the second fight promised one thing to Margarito, he said, “I’m going to slap you like a little girl.”

Cotto lived up to his promise, whilst up on his toes keeping his distance and boxed the perfect fight. Miguel went on to stop Antonio in the 10th round with a TKO.
