While the Rumble has 30 participants, there are only a handful of possible winners. In all likelihood, either Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar or Triple H will win.
Here’s the breakdown on each:
- Reigns remains a favorite in the WWE boardroom and they remain hellbent on making fans want him as champion. The rumor mill suggests that Reigns will be the winner and, even if he drops the title, he will likely remain in or near the main event picture for the foreseeable future.
- While Reigns is the WWE’s prized pet, Brock Lesnar is one of the few men that attracts fans on his name alone. Lesnar taking the title and carrying it into WrestleMania is a real possibility and having him as the show’s headliner is probably the best business move available for the WWE right now, at least in a short-term perspective.
- Triple H is the wild card in all this. Reigns vs. Triple H has been teased on-and-off for years now, and having their feud finally come to a head at WrestleMania, with all the marbles on the line, makes a lot of sense. The best, fastest way to set it up is having him win the title at the Rumble. That said, he isn’t even confirmed for the match yet so it’s entirely possible he doesn’t even enter the picture.
While this year’s Rumble isn’t necessarily the best from a talent perspective, for the first time in a while, we don’t know for certain who is going to win. So…at least there’s that.
