Dargan and his unnamed girlfriend, according to the Independent, went out for a night on the town which included going to an Adele concert and then post-gaming at a bar. Around the same time, Paddy Mullally, the victim, was coming home from his own retirement party, after hanging up his gear from a career with Guinness.
According to reports, Dargan got into a fight with his girlfriend over wanting to drive himself home while drunk and Mullally stepped in to intervene. This led to a scuffle where Mullally was punched by Dargan, fell to the ground, hit his head and died the next day. Dargan turned himself into police and is remorseful, saying “I’m so sorry, it was an accident. I’m devastated and heartbroken for that man and his family. All I can say is I’m crushed. If I could take back everything that happened that night I would, but all I can do is beg his family for their forgiveness. It was a genuine mistake.”
We’ll see how this goes for him…but it isn’t looking good.
