For WWE fans who don’t check out the E! reality series, this is a big departure from the norm for the Face That Runs the Place. While Cena plays the part of the super-sporting good guy who defeats all the heels and buries them in midcard hell for years on end…he’s actually a real person!
The WWE tends to downplay it on their actual wrestling programming, but Cena and Nikki have been dating steadily since 2012. They are polar opposite characters on-screen, with Cena playing the part of the super-heroic good guy, while Nikki is a dirty, cheating heel, but outside the ring, they can often be seen side-by-side on red carpet walks and at official WWE functions.
With Cena and Nikki playing the lead roles in the WWE’s top two IPs, however, the WWE is more than willing to break kayfabe to highlight their top stars being an item. When will they go from being an item to being husband and wife, though? Your guess is as good as any!
