Not only has he had to battle the demons that come from losing his family, his home, and his business, but he also struggles with PTSD from his time in the military and is having a hard time getting help.
“They told me they could provide a bond and rent but I can’t even get a flat because every estate agents I go to ask for reference fees which cost around £100 and I’m on the street.”
He put his life on the line to protect the same people that are spitting on him now.
To top of all off, people have been treating him awfully. Complete strangers, who are unaware that they’re talking to a hero, are malicious and have gone as far as to urinate on him, spit on him, and set his sleeping bag on fire.
“Sometimes I just go to a quiet street and cry to myself. I just can’t believe I’m in this situation. I have put my life on the line for the good of this country and this is the way I’m treated? It’s disgusting.”
The next time you see a homeless person on the street, at least treat them with some dignity because you have no idea what they might have been through. Not every homeless person is some lazy bum, some of them have made huge sacrifices and had some awful luck.
