Gregg Valentino is a super controversial guy. Some people confuse his giant, oily marshmallow physique for actual muscles. But we’re not here to pile on and make fun of the guy, because he’s been through enough when his arm literally exploded.

How did he get so big? And what caused his arm to explode?

Typically when you see freaky huge muscles like this, and they don’t really look real – it’s because they’re forged by injecting synthol rather than by training. Synthol is an oil that isn’t too uncommon to help bodybuilders get a little extra bulge here and there, but some people take it way too far. Gregg, on the otherhand, insists that he hasn’t used it:

“I was taking propionate and Equipoise into the muscle itself. Synthol just works one way: it stretches the fascia. With Equipoise and propionate you get the double whammy. You get the stretch from the oil plus you get the localized growth from the drugs themselves.” – Gregg Valentino, in an interview with T-Nation.

When  Gregg’s massive arm got infected, instead of going right to the hospital he decided to operate on it himself, in his bathroom, while filming it.

“After 20 minutes of stabbing himself with a syringe and filling two cups with blood and puss, Gregg ended up in emergency surgery…”
