Lots of us miss Pride for a number of reasons. From the freakshow fights to the intensity to the storylines to the presence of Fedor Emelianenko, there was a lot to love about it. There was also one big thing worth hating, though.
That one big thing, of course, was the ring. While boxing and pro wrestling have been contested in the squared circle for over a century, neither have to worry about things like a power double or extending for a kneebar. The hectic and wild nature of MMA can make competing in a ring somewhat dangerous.
This is fun sometimes. Other times…not so much.
