Here’s the scene after the main event at BAMMA 22. Cage is filled with people celebrated or consoling the losing fighter as you’d expect, as you’ve seen 1000 times. Then something not-so-ordinary happens. Some idiots start tossing cups filled with pee into the cage, dousing the ref, the camera crew, the announcers, the coaches, the trainers, and the fighters themselves. How are you going to take a piss on a dude who just won a championship fight?
“Ladies and gentlemen, please, calm down. Please. Everyone calm down.”
It’s one thing when fighters do it to themselves, but this is just uncalled for.
What happens with a lot of smaller promotions, that are big enough to attract real crowds, is that the ticket prices are so low that people have a lot more cash to spend on beers, and a cheap night out watching fights is obviously going to attract a certain amount of riff raff compared to a big-ticket UFC event (Which have had their share of issues too, but nobody tossing piss into the cage.)
All around, it turned into a bad scene. We’re pretty sure we found the guy responsible for starting fights in the crowd and throwing pee into the cage…
