A few months back, UFC Tonight reported that Cyborg was going to return to the Octagon opposite UFC fighter Germaine de Randamie. While the internet blew up with excitement over the idea of Cyborg facing a formidable competitor in the UFC, she immediately shot down the news saying that she was looking to defend her Invicta FC title in her next fight, and wasn’t going to cut back down to 140 pounds for anything short of a fight with Ronda Rousey.

That makes it feel like this report may be inaccurate. While there’s no question that Cyborg belongs in the UFC and should have been brought aboard years ago, it’s hard to blame her for not wanting to cut down to 140 pounds. Never even mind cutting down to 140 pounds for a fight in Fight Night event…Never, ever even mind cutting down to 140 pounds for a Fight Night event where she will face Lina Lansberg!

Either way, we here at Fight State are certainly hoping to get to see some more Cyborg in the UFC. It’s where she belongs.

UPDATE:

Cyborg confirmed that she will indeed be returning to the UFC at Fight Night 96 in September. So start getting hyped, I suppose!
