Fight fans are some of the most fickle people on earth. One moment a fighter can be on top of the world, but it only takes a split second for a hype train to derail. Few have fell harder and faster than Ronda Rousey, and we’re not talking about the moments following that headkick from Holly Holm. Ronda’s rise to the top of the UFC was fast, but it only took one off-day for the entire world to turn on her – except for her fans. It’s not as easy being a Ronda Rousey fan anymore, but now that all of the bandwagoners have been shaken off, it’s time to rebuild.
Here are some things that Ronda Rousey fans are sick of hearing about since she lost to Holly Holm.
8. That She Isn’t an Elite Fighter
People are acting like Ronda Rousey didn’t streamroll all of her previous opponents. It takes a really short memory to forget what she’s done since entering the UFC. Styles make fights, and there’s no denying that Ronda was outclassed, but she definitely wasn’t dominated.
7. That She Got Dominated By Holly Holm
Ronda didn’t look good on her feet, but there were a couple moments in this fight where she could have won. Before Holly got a quick takedown (Who saw that coming?!), Ronda hit her with a good shot and Holm was staggered. Also, Holly showed some great armbar defence but Ronda wasn’t too far from sinking it in and ending the fight quickly.
6. That She’s Dating a Woman-Beater
Ronda’s controversial relationship with fellow UFC fighter Travis Browne has drawn a lot of headlines, but no charges have been pressed against him for domestic abuse and an investigation didn’t uncover any evidence, either.
5. That Her Boxing Sucks
Ronda isn’t the greatest striker on earth, but MMA isn’t just about one discipline – it’s about the combination of many. There aren’t any other women in the UFC who could stand toe to toe with Holly Holm and not look outclassed.
4. That She’s an Evil Monster
Ronda lost some fans when she was talking trash to Holm leading up to the fight, but she was clearly not in a good place leading up to this first. Everyone’s had a bad day, but Ronda seems to get a lot more flack for her trash talk and for getting in Holly’s face at the weigh-ins, even though things like that are common occurrences in men’s fights.

Ronda was the best thing to ever happen to women’s MMA, and her loss will probably end up being one of the best things to happen to the division. It really opens things up and makes for a lot of excitement.

Before the fight took place, everybody was going on about how it was such a mismatch and there are no worthy opponents for Ronda. People said Holly wasn’t ready, and it would be another quick finish. Then as soon as Holly wins, all you hear are people saying that they knew all along that this would be the outcome.
