Akiyama is often pitched as the biggest thing since sliced bread in Japan by the UFC…but that isn’t really all that true. However, he is a legitimate star in Korea (where he is known as Choo Sung-Hoon).
Meanwhile, Kim is also a big name in his native Korea, in spite of the fact he is just an anonymous UFC welterweight stateside.
Both men are set to fight on the UFC’s debut in Korea in November. Akiyama will face Alberto Mina while Kim will face Jorge Masvidal.
