The injury was caused by a blocked kick in Emmett’s fight against Jon Tuck. Tuck isn’t an elite fighter in any way, but his diverse striking attack can catch people off guard and his kicks can obviously cause plenty of damage. One of his high kicks glanced off Emmett’s finger, snapping it almost completely off.
Remarkably, Emmett managed to not just survive to the end of the fight…he actually managed to win! It was an ugly UFC debut, sure, but Emmett proved that there are few tougher than he is.
Hopefully his second fight doesn’t get so nasty…whenever that may be.
