The UFC has a blockbuster event slated for July, being UFC 200. The event is slated to go down in a yet-to-be-named, soon-to-open stadium in Las Vegas. They’re hoping that this will be one of the biggest events in UFC history, and will likely be chasing the live gate and pay-per-view buyrate records. The best way to start building that event, no surprise, would be Holm vs. Rousey 2.
That rematch would be an amazing way to start building their next mega-event, and coupling it alongside another big fight (the UFC is likely hoping to do so with a rematch between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor, should McGregor win or should the fight have a dusty finish) could easily challenge the PPV record set by UFC 100, topped by Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir 2 and Georges St-Pierre vs. Thiago Alves, which hit approximately 1.6 million buys.
Because of that, the medical suspension will likely prove to simply be a formality. While there’s an off chance the UFC could look to attach Rousey vs. Holm to another event (perhaps the UFC’s debut in New York, depending on how that pans out), we’re most likely not going to see Rousey back in the cage before Summer ’16.
