Ever been watching the UFC and thought “This would be so much better if they could use weapons to bludgeon each other over the head with clubs?”
Unified Weapons Master (UWM) is trying to make that dream a reality.
In the early days of the UFC, we were able to answer a lot of age-old questions like how would a Karate master fare against a Sumo? How would a boxer do against a Jiu-Jitsu guy? A lot of BS martial arts were exposed, while the cream rose to the top. There hasn’t been an equivalent for weapon fighting yet, but there will be soon.
They’re calling it “the new high-tech future of combat sports” and are currently trying to raise about $75,000 in order to develop futuristic protective armor that looks like it’s out of the game Halo.
The suit will have a helmet camera, a microphone, biometric data like heart rate and temperature, a built-in cooling system, and more.
The scoring system would work like a video game, where each blow is scored based on damage and once the fighter’s health bar runs out it’s over.
