While this seems crazy, Jackson is not known for being an especially sympathetic coach in fighters’ corners. While there’s no doubt that the man who has helped build the likes of Jon Jones, Donald Cerrone, Holly Holm and Diego Sanchez is a great coach, we’ve seen him meet his fighters with cold indifference on more than a few occasions. That said, different people are motivated by different things and, as such, it’s highly likely that Jackson was just trying to pump GSP up with his crazy orders.

Ultimately, GSP did go on to win the fight over Alves. Despite the injury, he continued to complete takedowns and utilize his great top control, en route to unanimous decision with scores of 50-45, 50-45, 50-44.

Unfortunately, he did not find the opportunity to hit Alves with his groin…
