The fighter in question is Mikey Burnett. The 41 year-old former UFC fighter is best known for his run on The Ultimate Fighter season 4 and is best remembered for repeatedly running himself into a wall. On the show, he faced Din Thomas and lost by submission. Before TUF4, he fought in the UFC three times, most notably facing Pat Miletich for the UFC welterweight belt at UFC Brazil in 1998.
Burnett is also remembered for a neck injury he suffered on the show and the lawsuit that followed. During TUF4, he suffered the injury and was stiffed by the UFC and their insurance company for the show on medical bills. The injury forced Burnett to retire.
The good news for Burnett and his son is that he is expected to survive the attack. Hopefully, he won’t suffer any lingering physical damage, and will fully recover.
