Floyd Mayweather is known for being weird about gloves, it’s a thing he seems to like to hold over his opponents head, even sometimes changing his mind at the last moment, and since he’s always on the “a side” his opponents don’t really have much of a choice if they want their huge paydays. You have to wonder, after he offered this olive branch to Conor, if he’s doing it just to mess with him. Does he want Conor to start training in a different style of gloves, only at the last minute to have the Athletic Commission come in and insist on 10oz since it’s standard for the weight class? I guess we’ll see.
So, the fight is at 154 which means 10oz gloves in boxing, but Floyd recently posted this:
The reason this feels like some kind of a trap is because Floyd acts like he’s doing Conor some huge favor, but that just isn’t Floyd’s style. “Whatever advantage McGregor needs…”
And here’s how Conor responded:
“Another handy 12 rounds today. We are prepared to destroy Floyd.
Pick whatever size gloves you want as well little man. I fight with 4oz. I don’t give a fu– about the size of the glove.
I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that.
