Dominick Cruz, the once-dominant champion, is no stranger to broken bones. He’s missed years out of the prime of his career with numerous severe injuries, but he always seems to find a way to come back, and this time won’t be any difference. None the less, he’s been forced to pull out of his UFC 219 bout against Jimmie Rivera. It has yet to be announced if they’ll find another opponent or Rivera, if the Cruz fight will be rescheduled, or what the plan is. We’ll keep you posted as details emerge.

Aljamain Sterling was quick to respond to the news, he’s interested in stepping in to fill in for Cruz against Rivera.
News broke shortly before this that Frankie Edgar is also pulling out from a fight, he was scheduled to throw gloves at UFC 218.
Rough news all around, but on the plus side – 217 was the best card of the year, one of the best cards of all time, and it went off without a hitch. As an MMA fan, it can be a whirlwind, but two things remain true: There will always be things that go perfectly, and things that are super disappointing. We’re wishing a quick recovery to both former champs in hopes of seeing them back in action very soon.
