To this point there is no news from the UFC on what’s going to happen. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has previously stated that he has been training of late with the assumption that one of the two fighters would withdraw from the fight and it’s very possible we see Johnson step in to face Jones.
There is also a serious possibility that Jones is pulled off the card and the flyweight title match between Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo gets promoted to the main event. That would make for a garbage PPV card, however, as the main card featured some “pretty good, I guess” matches in Anthony Pettis vs. Edson Barboza and Robert Whittaker vs. Rafael Natal.
This could be the new UFC 197 main event.
We’ll see how it goes.
