Conor McGregor Reveals Why He Fought With His Hands Behind His Back

Articles

This latest version of Conor is the best yet. That loss really seems to have improved his game. Alvarez is a legit MMA wrestler, but Conor was able to completely throw him off of his game plan.

Now, back to the hands behind the back, Conor explained the actual reason for this fighting style:

“This (holding up his right hand) was out of action for the whole camp,” he said. “That’s why I developed that putting the hand behind my back.

“I would be doing it in sparring, then I’d jar it or hit it and it would be swelling up in the middle of the rounds — I just figured out ways to fight around it.

“To be honest I was icing it up until today but it’s actually alright now. I’m brand new. There’s not a f—— scratch on me.”

Due to wanting to continue sparring and training despite his hand injury, Conor had to make a habit of trying to protect it in order to not further aggravate the injury. He pulled out the same move during the fight, but says his hand has been okay. None the less, he also said he had been icing it up until the day of the fight, so it couldn’t have been that okay.
