After numerous delays, the ruling is finally in: Jon Jones is getting a 1 year suspension for tainted sexual performance enhancing drugs. This is his suspension from USADA, we’re still awaiting the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s ruling (The same people who wanted to give Nick Diaz 5 years for a doobie.)
Guess he’ll need a new nickname…
The defense of having tainted sex-drugs isn’t anything new, it’s been used by other fighters after getting popped for steroids. But, in any case, Jon Jones can’t really keep the nickname “Bones” anymore, can he?
This suspension from USADA is retroactive from June 6th, so we could see Jon Jones fighting again as early as Summer 2017. Unless the NSAC decides to lay their gavel down and push for a greater suspension, so it’s still kind of up in the air, but for now what we know is that Jones has got 1 year.
Word from him and his team has been positive leading up to this.
