The 21 year old has occupied a strange space to this point in her career. While she was a high-upside prospect entering the UFC, she wasn’t included in the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter. She debuted with a big win over Kailin Curran and the UFC brass and Reebok were so enamored with her “it factor” (that is, they liked how she was a reasonably attractive blonde and, more importantly, white female) that they made her a star on the spot.
That said, it’s pretty freaking terrible to tell her what she can and can’t do with her physical appearance.
Is she going to be told that she can’t dye her hair because it goes against the whole “Aryan” look Reebok is going for with their women’s athletes? Are they going to tell her she can’t move up a weight class because they need to keep her looking thin for those Instagram photos? Are they going to tell her to get implants if UFC fans stop caring?
Well, we at FightState won’t stand for that! Let Paige shave her head, UFC! Do it for the children!
