The UFC semi-complete weight champion, Daniel Cormier, had an interesting conversation yesterday with Khabib Nurmagomedov and shared the details on Twitter .
According to Cormier, the UFC attempted to schedule the fight again between interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and contender # 2, Nurmagomedov for UFC 219 . However, according to “DC”, Ferguson declined the fight.
“Today I entered the gym and @ khabib_nurmagomedov comes up and [tells] me that the @Ufc wants to do [the fight] vs. @tonyfergusonxt for December 30. Then he tells me that Tony said no to the fight . Come on Tony, that’s not gangster bruh. Accept the fight! ”

If we analyze this and what Cormier says is true, the UFC could have made these moves before announcing the Holly Holms vs. Cris Cyborg, in his search for a stellar fight for the event.
Ferguson’s response was to be expected, for if he took this fight against Nurmagomedov , he could discard the fight that actually has meaning for him in both the monetary and sports aspects: A title unification fight with the 155-pound king Conor McGregor .
