Tony Ferguson returns and he already has opponent and date, the former interim lightweight champion will face Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 238. This was announced by ESPN on Friday afternoon.

Ferguson has not seen action since beating Anthony Pettis for TKO at UFC 229. The Californian is on a streak of eleven consecutive victories since 2013. Tony was going to face Khabib Nurmagomedov last year but he was injured.

UFC offered him the interim belt fight against Max Holloway in April. But he could not accept because of personal problems. The former champion had a meeting with the UFC this week in Las Vegas to discuss his return.

Cerrone comes from beating Al Laquinta last weekend at UFC Ottawa. “Cowboy” is on a three-game winning streak and has the record for most UFC wins with 23.

UFC 238 will be held next June 8 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
