The UFC Finally Called Mark Hunt! Here’s What They Talked About

MMA

For the last two weeks, Mark Hunt has been peeved the eff off. REALLY peeved the eff off, in fact. Ever since news broke of Brock Lesnar failing a drug test ahead of their UFC 200 fight, the Super Samoan has been rampaging about…pretty much everything.

He’s peeved the eff off about Lesnar failing his drug test. He’s peeved the eff off about his low pay. He’s peeved the eff off about how he won’t see a dime of what could be a seven-figure fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. One last time…he’s really peeved the eff off.

Hunt took over 100 significant strikes from that man.

Hunt took over 100 significant strikes from that man. Can’t blame him for not feeling good about that.

That has made the UFC’s indifference towards him kind of crazy. Hunt has been a steady draw for the UFC for years now, and their sitting back and watching him question the company’s credibility on every level without response has been…something, to say the least. Well, the UFC apparently broke their silence with Hunt, as the company’s Fuhrer of Health and Wellness (that’s our title for him, at least) Jeff Novitzky gave Hunt the ol’ ring-a-ding-ding and plead their case.

According to ESPN, the UFC called up Hunt and “addressed Hunt’s concerns with Lesnar’s potential anti-doping violation, as well as the results management process related to the case”. The results, they claim, were positive.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this dude could fail a drug test. If Brock can...anyone can.

Hunt is pissed off but, in most ways, it feels like he is largely dissatisfied with his pay from the UFC. Hunt has no legs to stand on in regards to his suddenly firm stance on PED use, given the fact that he twice campaigned to face Antonio Silva (who has two failed drug tests to his name) and accused Brock of using before the results came back.

That said, rumors have been churning about how Hunt’s UFC contract is up. It’s very possible he is simply trying to make as much noise as possible to drive up his asking price, and doesn’t actually care about the juice at all!
