According to the report, the NSAC and the Diaz camp are engaged in settlement talks, with UFC lawyers leaning on the commissioners to help the process along. If all goes according to plan, the suspension could be shortened to as little as 18 months, backdated to January 31, the day of Diaz’s fight with Anderson Silva.
That’s great news for Diaz fans. Many believed that Diaz’s suspension wouldn’t hold up with an unbiased judge once it went to the appellate court, but appeals can literally be drawn out for years. Even if Diaz did eventually win his appeal, it could have taken such an incredibly long time that it would have done irreparable damage to his career.
Now, though, the return of the Diaz may be just over the horizon…
