As you probably heard, Sage Northcutt lost at UFC on Fox 18. Not only did he lose, but he was pretty much embarrassed by the completely unknown, supposedly overmatched Bryan Barberena.
After a back and forth first round, Northcutt started off the second round by flopping on a headkick. From there, Barbarena climbed on top of him and started working for an arm triangle choke which Northcutt QUICKLY tapped out to.
That isn’t a position where somebody can sink in a proper side choke. Not good!
The loss doesn’t end Northcutt’s career but it was a clear sign that Northcutt needed to make some big changes in his approach to training and the sport itself. The good news? He knows that’s true and is going to do something about it by joining a top-notch MMA gym.
