According to Bloody Elbow, however, the test MacDonald was worried about was not necessarily indicative of PED use. According to Iain Kidd “Lawler’s Luteinizing Hormone (LH) results came back at 64.2 mlU/mL. WADA guidelines label any result over 20.0 mlU/mL a presumptive adverse analytical finding which requires further testing.”
While that can indicate the use of banned substances (particularly estrogen blockers, a la what Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones tested positive for before UFC 200), Lawler was not flagged for any banned substances. The odd LH level automatically calls for additional testing from the NSAC and, despite the extra scrutiny, Lawler still came back clean.
That suggests that the odd result on the drug test, despite being suspicious, was an anomaly. MacDonald acknowledged as much on Twitter:

So that’s the end of that chapter. Hopefully Rory and Robbie have good things coming to them in the near future.
