Ronda Rousey Got a Tempting Offer To Leave The UFC And Fight In Lingerie

MMA

We’re now approaching a year since Ronda Rousey’s last fight, but the question of “when will she come back?” remains the biggest one in MMA. With so much mystery about when she will return, who she will return against, and how long she will return for, there is a plenty of room for speculation, rumors and outright lies.

Enter Lingerie FC. The aptly named fighting organization that features an all-female roster who engage in contests wearing underwear that probably wouldn’t be approved as fight gear by a real commission, is making overtures to the former UFC champ and saying that they want her to join the company.

Here’s the quote, via Bloody Elbow:

“Ronda Rousey has long been at the very top of our wish list,” said Shaun Donnelly, LFC’s Chief Executive Officer. “Not only is she one of the top fighters of all time, she is also a very beautiful woman who isn’t afraid to show off her sexy side…We have reason to believe that Ms. Rousey might seriously consider a role with Lingerie Fighting Championships, either as a competitor or an ambassador. She has been critical in the past at how little female fighters are paid and LFC has always shown a real commitment to paying our fighters very well.”

Any reasonable person knows that there’s very little to this statement outside a small chuckle. If Rousey does return to MMA, it will be with the UFC. She absolutely, positively will not be able to compete with any non-UFC promotion due to her contractual obligations to the UFC.

McGregor vs. Mayweather was substantially more likely to go down than Rousey going into LFC.

She could, hypothetically, take on an ambassador role, as he mentioned, but even that is incredibly unlikely. LFC probably couldn’t afford Rousey at this point, as she commands a pretty penny with the UFC and has acting gigs to fill her schedule with.
