World Series of Fighting has put together a pretty interesting matchup between the real-life super hero who went viral for roaming the streets and challenging criminals to hand-to-hand combat, which is perfectly legal thanks to an awesome loophole in the law that allows two people to have a consensual street fight with cops standing right there.
Ben Fodor, AKA Phoenix Jones, is the last guy you’d want to run into when you’re out on the mean streets committing crime.
There’s always talk about teammates refusing to fight each other and how many of them are reluctant and some downright refuse, it’s why Daniel Cormier moved down to take the LHW belt instead of challenging for the HW belt and stepping on Cain’s toes. But these guys are taking it to the next level. Ben’s brother Caros is also an MMA fighter, and this Saturday they’re going to be squaring off at WSOF.
Your teammates are going to know all your tricks, your strengths, your weaknesses… but your brother is probabally going to know you better than anyone, so this is an interesting match-up from a viewer’s perspective. We’re curious to see how it plays out. It will undoubtedly be an emotional fight. These guys have probabally fought and sparred countless times, the only difference now is that they’re doing in front of a huge audience and getting paid. And that there’s going to be a winner and a loser.
Ben is the more well-known of the pair for his Youtube videos and superhero persona, but Caros is the more experienced fighter with a record of 10-5 and a notable 5-1 run in Strikeforce, also having made a UFC appearance on the same card that Ronda Rousey debuted on. Ben is 6-1 in his pro career.
